Since it was founded in 1996, the company has planned and carried out events and club events in more than 30 countries. Cocoon Music Event GmbH is responsible for an average of 90 events worldwide per year (as of 2016). In 2016, around 350,000 guests all over the world attended Cocoon Music Event GmbH events.
In addition, Cocoon Music Event GmbH has been organizing its own festival in Leeds , England, called Cocoon in the Park, since 2009 and was the organizer of “Green & Blue” in Obertshausen for ten years (2004–2012). Cocoon Music Event GmbH operates a record label and a music publisher , a merchandising business and an artist agency that has been operating under the name "Flash Artist Booking" since 2014.
The current headquarters of Cocoon Music Event GmbH is Frankfurt am Main , and Tanja Rohe has been responsible for the management of the GmbH since 2014 .
The beginnings
The first Cocoon event took place on June 30, 1996 in Frankfurt am Main in the "Alte Brauerei", an off-location on Hanauer Landstrasse. Artists at this first Cocoon event included Underworld , Sven Väth, Alter Ego and DJ Hell . With a little time lag, Sven Väth subsequently developed the concept of club-in-club parties together with Talida Wegener and, after the “Omen” disco closed in 1998, started a monthly series of events in the Frankfurt disco U60311 . At the same time, the then Cocoon Booking Agency was founded as its own artist agency and, from 2000, its own music label , Cocoon Recordings . Among other things belonged to the artist roster of the agency in the early years, alongside Sven Väth , and Marco Carola , Richie Hawtin , alter ego, Josh Wink , Dubfire , Ricardo Villalobos , The Third Space and extra world .
Cocoon Ibiza
In 1999 Cocoon Music Event GmbH started an independent series of events on the Balearic island of Ibiza . The venue is the " Amnesia " disco - a club with around 500,000 visitors every year (as of 2016). In 2016, around 80,000 guests attended Cocoon Music Event GmbH's Ibiza events. Well-known artists of the Cocoon Ibiza series are Sven Väth, especially Ricardo Villalobos , Marco Carola , Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Carl Craig .
Cocoon events have also been held on the neighboring island of Formentera since 2011 . The venue in Formentera is the “Tipic” disco on Thursdays.
In addition to the event activities as part of the Cocoon Ibiza series, a musical season retrospective will be published every year from 2000 onwards, which is dedicated to the music of the previous Cocoon Ibiza events. The series "The Sound Of The (...) Season" is one of the longest running techno compilation series in Germany and the releases regularly reach placements in the German sales charts. Since 2006, a double mix CD has also been released in advance of the respective Ibiza season, which is intended to give a preview of the music highlights to be expected at the events. Contributions from Andre Galluzzi , Raresh, Reboot, Dubfire , Loco Dice , Marco Carola , Adam Beyer and Carl Craig have appeared, among others .
Own events in Germany
In addition to the Cocoon Ibiza series and the worldwide "Club-in-Club" events, Cocoon Music Event GmbH also organized its own festival "Green & Blue" in changing locations in the greater Frankfurt / Offenbach area from September 2003. After the first few years in the Obertshausen forest swimming pool, a disused former barracks and the area at Langener Waldsee were also the venues for the “Green & Blue” parties.
Own events in England
Under the direction of the Cocoon Music Event and in collaboration with Shane Graham (Mint Club Leeds), the annual open air festival “Cocoon In the Park” has also been held on the second weekend in July since 2009.
Cocoon merchandising
Cocoon is one of the best-known club music brands in Germany and was able to increase the spread of the name, especially through its own merchandising department. The seasonally changing offer includes different t-shirt and sweatshirt collections as well as accessories and accessories such as B. Record slipmats, cell phone cases, jewelry and various promotional products.
Cocoon Recordings
The in-house music label Cocoon Recordings with an affiliated publisher has also been run under the label code LC 11279 since 2000. The first catalog number was the label compilation "A", which has been continued annually since then and has now (as of 2017) arrived at the letter "Q". In addition to maxi singles and albums, Cocoon Recordings also releases the annual “Sound of the (xxx) Season” CD.
