Gianfranco "Franco" Alessandro Maria Comotti (born July 24, 1906 in Brescia , † May 10, 1963 in Bergamo ) was an Italian racing driver . He was the husband of the racing driver Anna Maria Peduzzi .
Career
Comotti remained an amateur driver throughout his life, which does not say anything about his driving qualities. His main occupation was in the oil business, and occasionally he worked as a test driver, as which he was in great demand. However, he lacked the consistency for the great successes in motorsport.
His first race was the 1928 Italian Grand Prix in a Talbot , after which he only appeared again in the Alfa Romeo team from 1932 to 1935 . His greatest success was winning the Grand Prix du Comminges in 1934 . He was then a test driver and occasional pilot at Talbot-Lago and Delahaye .
During the Second World War he was an informant in German-occupied northern Italy and only narrowly escaped execution by the National Socialists . After the war he still appeared in Maserati cars and a private Ferrari , but concentrated more and more on his business, which he pursued as a BP employee in North Africa until his death .
