The Swiss Grand Prix took place on the Bremgarten racetrack in 1950 and was the fourth race of the 1950 World Cup .

training

Ferrari used a vehicle with an improved rear axle in practice, but could not break the total dominance of the Alfa Romeo . Juan Manuel Fangio secured pole position with 2: 42.1 minutes.

Race course

Fangio used his pole position and came back as the leader from the first lap, which for Yves Giraud-Cabantous already meant the end of an accident. Alberto Ascari also had to park his Ferrari early with a damaged oil line. After that, Ferrari's hopes of being able to keep up with the Alfa Romeo rested with Luigi Villoresi , who also managed to overtake Luigi Fagioli , but had to park his car shortly afterwards with a defective engine.

Bira and Étancelin fought for fourth place until he had to give up on lap 25 with transmission problems. Before that, Eugène Martin had a serious accident on the 19th lap. When trying to wipe oil from his visor, he braked too late and went off the track. He was thrown out of the car and seriously injured his leg. It was not until 1952 that he was able to compete again.

In the pits, the pressurized tank system exploded when Bonetto's refueling , but nobody was injured. Bonetto could go on.

The three Alfa Romeo were still in the lead when Fangio came to the pits on lap 33 and had to retire with defective electrical systems. So Rosier inherited third place, which together with the Belgian Grand Prix of the same year should remain his best Formula 1 result.
