Yves Aristide Marius Giraud-Cabantous (born October 8, 1904 in Saint-Gaudens , † March 30, 1973 in Paris ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Although Yves Giraud-Cabantous competed in races for 30 years, he was never able to reach the absolute top. To a large extent, it was because he often had to start on inferior equipment. In 1925 he began his racing career on a Salmson , with which he gained experience in the first few years mainly in smaller French races. In the 1930s, he focused on sports car racing and came second in the 1938 Le Mans 24-hour race .

After the war he returned to the racetracks on Talbot , his greatest success being winning the Grand Prix de Paris in 1948 . In the first few years of the World Automobile Championship he made it into the points twice, with fourth place at the British Grand Prix in 1950 being his best result. In 1952 and 1953 he competed sporadically in Formula 1 races at HWM , and until 1955 he competed in Le Mans.

Between 1926 and 1932, his company Yves Giraud-Cabantous produced 28 automobiles. After retiring from racing, he built a transport company that he ran until his death in 1973.
