Conor Shanosky (born September 13, 1991 in Sterling , Virginia ) is an American football player in the position of midfielder .
Career
Start of career at home and rise to professional level
Shanosky was born in 1991 in the Census-designated place Sterling in the US state of Virginia, but grew up mainly in the nearby Potomac Falls , where he also attended school. After he had been active in football since his early childhood, he also played for the school's men's football team at high school, which he attended in his home town of Potomac Falls, and at that time was mainly a midfielder for it. With the school team, he also received a number of honors, with which he also drew attention to the US Football Association.
After graduating from high school and a planned admission to George Mason University , Shanosky finally decided against a college career and for admission to the junior division and the academy of DC United , which had previously submitted an offer. Before that, he even received a National Letter of Intent from those in charge at George Mason University . Through the franchise's youth program, Shanosky made the leap into the professional squad in 2010, where he received a contract as a homegrown player and, alongside Ethan White , Andy Najar and Bill Hamid, was only one of four players to receive this new MLS rule.
After the trained midfielder, who is mainly used in more defensive positions, was not eligible to play for the first game year 2010 and was therefore not in any game statistics, but was still in the professional squad, he only found his way into the professional team in Major League Soccer 2011 when he has been on the bench in five different league games so far (as of October 13, 2011).
In the summer of 2011, the club officials decided to lend Conor Shanosky to the new USL Professional Division , which is regarded as third-class , to the Harrisburg City Islanders franchise there . At the club from Harrisburg , Pennsylvania , the defensive midfielder could not really prevail. After sitting on the bench at DC United a few days earlier, he was used for the full game on July 21, 2011 in the 5-1 home win over FC New York and was a week later, at 3-2 Away win over Dayton Dutch Lions FC , one more time from the start before he was replaced by Jose Angulo from the second half of the game. After that there were no more missions for Shanosky.
In the following seasons Shanosky was loaned out to various teams. He played the 2012 season with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Soccer League . The 2013 and 2014 seasons he played, with interruptions in which he played for DC United, for the Richmond Kickers in the USL Professional Division.
Change to the USL
On January 21, 2015 Shanosky moved to Louisville City FC in the United Soccer League.
International
After he was discovered by those in charge of the American Football Association during his high school years and also stayed in the U-18 national team until 2010, which he also led as captain in his senior year , he came in the same Year in the US U-20 selection . With this he finally took part in the Milk Cup of 2010 , where he was used in all three international matches of his team. After a 3-0 final victory over the hosts from Northern Ireland , the Americans were able to take the title again. As early as the following May, Shanosky was appointed to the U-20 national team for two friendly international matches against his peers from France.
