Conrad Heinrich John Edler von Johnesberg (born February 3, 1852 in Kronstadt , † June 28, 1918 in Vienna ) was a chemist from Transylvania who worked from 1874 to 1911 at the Geological Research Institute in Vienna.

Life

Conrad John von Johnesberg attended the German secondary school in Prague from 1862 to 1868 and then studied from 1868 to 1872 at the chemical college of the Technical University in Vienna. From 1872 to the end of 1873 he was initially assistant to Leonhard Roesler at the kk chemical-physiological test station for viticulture and fruit growing in Klosterneuburg near Vienna, which was in the founding phase, and then in 1874 he took up a position as assistant in the chemical laboratory at the at that time of Franz von Hauer headed Geological Research Institute in Vienna, where he was initially entrusted with the management after the death of his predecessor Karl von Hauer (1819–1880) and then worked as director of this laboratory from 1881 until his retirement in 1911 . John's numerous scientific publications deal with mineral-chemical investigations as well as problems in the field of rock analysis and petrography.
