history
Her first work Mucho Barato sold over 100,000 times in Mexico alone and over 400,000 times throughout Latin America . For their second album Artillería Pesada , Control Machete traveled to Cuba to record the song Danzón with members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club . The single Sí señor was also included on the soundtrack to the film Amores Perros . This album also made people aware of them in Germany, and they performed at the New Pop Festival in Baden-Baden in 1999 . In 2000 they released the double maxi singles Control Machete Vs. Dj Tomekk Vs. Eminem Si señor / iles3 with Eminem and DJ Tomekk .
Fermin IV appeared in the song Siempre Peligroso with that on the album grandes Los éxitos en español by Cypress Hill appeared. After some time outside the band and working in other bands ( Chris Vrenna's project Tweaker and the hip hop act OMD from Los Angeles ), he released his solo album Boomerang in 2002 and left the band.
The rest came back together in 2003 and recorded the album Uno, Dos: Bandera with the help of Jason Roberts.
Like many other groups from Mexico, Control Machete also participates in collaborations with, among others, Molotov , Resorte (of which Pato is also a member) and Celso Pina .
Toy explained in an interview about the genesis of her music: "Norteña, the music from the north of Mexico, was created from a fusion of traditional polka with revolutionary songs. Control Machete is also a fusion: the joy of funk, rap and hip -Hop mixed with traditional Mexican and Latin American sounds. "
Spanglish
Most of the Control Machete songs are sung in Spanish. But the band also mixes English words or text passages into their songs again and again. This Spanglish is very much influenced by the Hispanics of the USA . This is probably the reason why Control Machete on the compiled album Spanglish 101 of Kool Arrow Records with Justo N are represented.
