Cordula Schuster (* in Munich ) is a German opera singer (soprano).

Life

Cordula Schuster studied music and French in her hometown of Munich. After the state examination, she completed her vocal training at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg / Austria with Heiner Hopfner . In 2004 she received a scholarship from the Gianna Szel Foundation . In 2006 Cordula Schuster received her opera diploma with distinction; She also completed the Lied & Oratorio course with Wolfgang Holzmair with distinction. She supplemented her studies with master classes a. a. with Mirella Freni , Robert Holl , Barbara Bonney and Roger Vignoles . In opera productions at the Mozarteum , the soprano drew attention to herself with lyrical parts from the Baroque to the Romantic period, including Humperdinck's Gretel, Frau Fluth ( The Merry Wives of Windsor ) and Ilia ( Idomeneo ).

She made her operatic debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2006 as Mercy in Mozart's Duty of the First Commandment - now released on DVD. This was followed by engagements at the Dortmund Theater as Josepha Vogelhuber ( Im Weiße Rößl ) and at the Gasteig as Micaela ( Carmen ). As a concert and lied singer, she appeared in the Herkulessaal , the Prinzregententheater Munich, at the Teatro Massimo Bellini / Catania and as a song interpreter at the Ars Vocalis singing festival in Zamora / Mexico.

Since then she has appeared as a soloist at the following venues: Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania ( C minor Mass KV 427 Mozart; Hubert Soudant ), Zurich Opera House (First Noble Orphan / Der Rosenkavalier ; Franz Welser-Möst ), Darmstadt State Theater (Mercy / The obligation of the first commandment ; Martin Lukas Meister), Theater Dortmund (Josepha Vogelhuber / Im Weißen Rößl; Ralf Lange), Herkulessaal Munich ( Mass in F minor Bruckner; Andreas Hermann), Gasteig Munich (Micaela / Carmen; Julio Miron), Andechs Festival ( Messiah Handel, Bach Christmas Oratorio ; Anton Pfell).

In the 2006/07 season the soprano was a member of the Zurich Opera Choir. Since 2007 she has been singing in the concert choir of Bayerischer Rundfunk and Südwestrundfunk Stuttgart. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, Cordula Schuster became a member of the choir of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
