action

The film begins on a rainy night at the Kisaragi Academy. With the graduation and farewell accommodating, Naomi Nakashima and her childhood friend Satoshi Mochida, together with their classmates Seiko Shinohara, Yoshiki Kishinuma, Sakutaro Morishige, Ayumi Shinozaki and Mayu Suzumoto, decide to clean up the school after their last school party at their school. Ayumi then suggests performing the cheerful Sachiko's friendship ritual at the end of their school career together. Her teacher Yui Shishido joins Satoshi's younger sister Yuka. Through the ritual they are drawn into a parallel dimension . There they find themselves at a cursed graduation ceremony at Tenjin Elementary School that closed years ago.

You will find newspaper articles that report on a serial killer who goes missing along with three students from this school. Shortly afterwards, Shishido is slain with a hammer by a man, Yoshikazu Yanagihori, in front of her students . They flee Yoshikazu out of fear. On the run, Naomi twists her ankle and is taken to the school sickroom. Yuka disappears without a trace. Naomi meets Yuki's ghost and argues with Seiko, who then leaves the room and faints a little later . Ayumi and Yoshiki witness how the ghosts of Yuki and Ryou - two of the three students believed to be missing - drag their friend Mayu against a wall with all their might and kill them, while Naomi finds Seiko hanged.

Yuka runs into the meanwhile mad Sakutaro, who chases her through the school before he is murdered by Yoshikazu. Ayumi and Yoshiki find a video cassette and a glass with tongues severed . The two join Satoshi and Naomi, who watch the video together, which was recorded by the well-known spiritualist Kou Kibiki. This shows Kibiki and his assistants exploring the elementary school shortly before they die. He explains that you can only leave this dimension if you break the curse of the Tenjin elementary school and use the scraps of paper from the friendship ritual in reverse. Naomi lost her piece of paper, but Ayumi is in possession of the piece. She begins to succumb to her jealousy of the friendship between Naomi and Satoshi, burns Naomi's scraps and gives her another piece of paper. Ayumi and Yoshiki meet the spirits of Yuki and Ryou again, whereby Ayumi manages to return their tongues to the two spirits, whereupon their souls are purified. Yuki shows the two of them a vision in which Sachiko is exposed as the real sinner.

Yuka is killed by Sachiko and Yoshiki sacrifices himself so that the friends who are still alive can escape. Naomi finds out the true cause of Seiko's death when she views the video from the security cameras: Naomi was possessed by a ghost and in this state she killed her friend. She then collapses because of her feelings of guilt before she is freed from Seiko's mind. Naomi holds a necklace she found and receives a vision of how the curse was created: Sachiko's mother, Yoshie, who was a nurse at Tenjin Elementary School , was pushed down a flight of stairs by headmaster Takamine Yanagihori and died. Sachiko, who witnessed the crime, was strangled by Takamine. He hides the bodies to destroy evidence of his actions.

Naomi and the injured Satoshi find Sachiko's body and again receive a vision. This shows where Sachiko's ghost Takamine and his son Yoshikazu are punished for their misdeeds. Then Sachiko's body attacks the two. Ayumi appears and reads from a diary entry in which Yoshie asks her daughter not to harm anyone and to go to sleep. While the school collapses, the three complete the ritual. Ayumi and Naomi make it back to their dimension while Satoshi dies. It turns out that he traded his snippet with Naomi.
