Corrado Caracciolo
Corrado Caracciolo (also Corrado Caraccioli ; * around 1360 in Naples ; † February 15, 1411 in Bologna ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
Born the son of Roberto Caraccioli, he came from a noble Neapolitan family, from which Cardinal Niccolò Caracciolo Moschino OP had already emerged. He was away with Pope Boniface IX. related, probably the Pope's grandmother, Verdella, was the sister of Caracciolo's grandfather Niccolò Caracciolo.
Corrado Caracciolo first met Boniface IX at the court in 1392. as papal sub-deacon . He is mentioned as provost of the Church of Santo Stefano in Aquileia on June 26, 1394.
On June 25, 1395, he was enthroned as Archbishop of Nicosia , having been appointed on March 29 of the same year. On March 30 of the same year he was also Vice Camerlengo of the Roman Church. He was transferred to the bishopric of Mileto on February 22, 1402. From 1404 to 1406 he was Camerlengo of the Roman Church.
Pope Innocent VII. Appointed him in the consistory of June 12, 1405 to Cardinal Priest of the titular church of San Crisogono . Corrado Caracciolo took part in the 1406 conclave that Pope Gregory XII. chose. In 1409 he gave up his diocese and Roman obedience and took part in the Council of Pisa . He was also among the cardinals in the election of Alexander V. participated. Although Corrado Caracciolo tried to reach an agreement between the now three popes and their respective cardinals until his death, he took part in the electoral assembly of 1410, in which the Pisan faction John XXIII. voted for her Pope.
Corrado Caracciolo died before a final elimination of the great occidental schism was achieved at the Council of Constance . He was buried in the Cathedral of Bologna .
