Costa San Savino is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of Costacciaro in the province of Perugia , Umbria region in Italy .

geography

The place is about 4.5 km northwest of the capital Costacciaro and 40 km northeast of the provincial and regional capital Perugia . The place is at 599  m slm and in 2001 had about 139 inhabitants. There are currently 131 residents. Costa San Savino borders in the north on the main town Scheggia in the municipality of Scheggia e Pascelupo .

history

The name of the place is St. Sabinus of Assisi . In the middle of the 13th century (probably 1262) the Camaldolese and beatified Beato Tommaso da Costacciaro was born in the village itself . Today he is the patron saint of the capital Costacciaro.

Madonna delle Grazie
  • Madonna delle Grazie , church and sanctuary about 500 m southeast of the town center. Was created during the time of the Eugubine bishops Vincenzo Massi and Innocenzo Sannibale in the second half of the 19th century over an aedicule of St. Maria and lies at 612  m slm. The church was the first in the diocese of Gubbio to be classified as Santuario mariano . In 2006, under the fresco behind the altar, showing a Vergine Maria con Gesù , the original fresco was rediscovered and restored until April 2007. The picture had been painted over with similar motifs three times, twice in the 19th century and once in the 20th century.
