Couffo is a department of Benin with the capital Dogbo-Tota . The city has not yet been officially named the capital, but performs all functions of the capital.

geography

The department is located in the south-west of the country and borders on Togo to the west, the Zou department to the east, the Mono department to the south and the Atlantique department to the south-east .

Ethnic groups

The Adja form the overwhelming majority with 88.4% of the population. The only noteworthy minority are the Fon .

Religions

The vast majority of 63.1% of the population professes the Voudou cult. The Christianity with 24.8% forms a large minority (of which approximately 55% supporters African Independent Churches and only 24% are Catholics). The Islam does not matter with 0.7% share of the population.

Couffo was created in 1999 by separating from the Mono department .
