Cowboy Pink Williams

Cowboy Pink Williams (born April 9, 1892 as Simeon Pinckney Williams in Newberry , Newberry County , South Carolina , †  April 1, 1976 in Caddo County , Oklahoma ) was an American politician . Between 1955 and 1959 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Oklahoma.

Career

Nothing is known about Simeon Williams' youth and schooling. In 1910 he was a goods distributor in Oklahoma City . In the following years he lived in various cities in Oklahoma, where he ran some businesses. Among other things, he worked in the furniture trade. Later he was also a rancher. In the meantime he changed his name from Simeon Pinckney Williams to Cowboy Pink Williams.

Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1954, Williams was elected lieutenant governor of Oklahoma alongside Raymond D. Gary . He held this office between 1955 and 1959. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Between 1963 and 1967 he held the office of Minister of Finance ( State Treasurer ) of his state. In 1973 he headed the planning committee for the city of Caddo 100th anniversary . He died on April 1, 1976. He had two children with his wife Daisy.
