Matt Pinnell (born August 15, 1979 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American politician . He is a member of the Republican Party and since January 14, 2019 under Kevin Stitt the 17th lieutenant governor of the state of Oklahoma .

Life

Matt Pinnell studied at Metro Christian Academy and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa . From 2010 to 2013, Pinnell was the chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party. He then worked as Director of State Parties for the Republican National Committee . On April 20, 2017, Pinnell announced his candidacy for election to lieutenant governor in the gubernatorial election the following year, and shortly thereafter, he resigned from his position on the Republican National Committee.

In the primary elections within the Republican Party, Pinnell received the second largest share of the vote after Dana Murphy, and in the runoff election on August 28, 2018, he prevailed against Murphy with 58.1% of the vote. In the vice gubernatorial elections on November 6, 2018, Pinnell prevailed against Democratic candidate Anastasia Pittman and independent candidate Ivan Holmes. The swearing-in took place on January 14, 2019. On January 18, 2019, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt selected Pinnell as Oklahoma Secretary of Tourism & Branding , thus Pinnell is also Chairman of the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation .

Matt Pinnell is married with two daughters and two sons. He lives in Tulsa with his family.
