Crana was a municipality in the Onsernone district , in the Locarno district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village at 892 m above sea level. M., 22 km from Locarno on the road to Comologno and Spruga.

history

The village is mentioned as Grana in 1228 . During the Ancien Régime , the Squadra of Crana, which also included the territory of Vocaglia, Comologno and Spruga, was part of the old municipality of Onsernone. The modern political community emerged with the institutional changes of Napoleonic mediation (history) in 1803. The village is known for the large number of those entitled to homeland (over 5,000): In order to supplement the low income of the village, local citizenship (and thus the Swiss citizenship) for a modest fee.

Community merger

On January 1, 1995, Crana merged with Comologno and Russo to form Onsernone municipality .
