Branko Crvenkovski ( Macedonian Бранко Црвенковски; born October 12, 1962 in Sarajevo ) was President of Macedonia from 2004 to 2009 .

In the first free elections in the SFR Yugoslavia , Crvenkovski was elected to the Macedonian parliament in 1990. In April 1991 the former communist took over the presidency of the Macedonia Social Democratic Union . After the secession of Yugoslavia, Crvenkovski became the first Prime Minister of Macedonia on September 5, 1992. He held this post until 1998 and again from 2002 to 2004, when he was elected President of Macedonia in the presidential elections after the death of Boris Trajkovski .
