Career

Hernández joined Deportivo Pereira in 2015 after being spotted on an amateur team. He made his debut for Pereira at the age of 15 when he was in the starting line-up in the 2-1 home win over Deportes Quindío . Cucho scored his first goal in professional football on September 5, 2015 against Real Santander . After scoring three goals in his first season, he was the top scorer in the Categoría Primera B the following season with 20 goals .

In September 2016, he moved to Spain to FC Granada , which loaned him back to Colombia to América de Cali on December 22nd . He made his debut in the Colombian first division, the Categoría Primera A , on February 23, 2017 in the game against the Jaguares de Córdoba . He scored his first goal for America on June 3 when he netted the only goal of the day against Deportivo Pasto .

On July 8, 2017, Granada's partner club, Watford FC , secured the rights to Cucho and immediately loaned him to the Spanish second division club SD Huesca for one season . Hernández has not played a single game for Granada in six months. In his first season 2017/18 he was an important part of the Huescas team, which rose to the Primera División for the first time as second in the table . Cucho scored 16 goals in 35 league games and prepared six more. For the season 2018/19 his loan was extended for another year. He scored his first goal in LaLiga on September 2, 2018 in the 8-2 away defeat against FC Barcelona . In the first Spanish division Hernández could not build on his values from the previous season and scored only 4 goals in 34 appearances and prepared three more. After only reaching 19th place in the table, Huesca had to move into the second division. Cucho returned to Watford FC at the end of the season.

However , he did not stay with the Hornets for long, as he was awarded to the LaLiga again on August 26, 2019, this time to promoted RCD Mallorca . His first appearance was due to a muscle injury in December 2019. He scored for the first time on February 15, 2020 (24th matchday) in a 1-0 home win against Deportivo Alavés . In total, he played 22 league games in this 2019/20 season, scoring five goals. Even with the Mallorcans he had to accept the descent.

In the following season he was awarded again in the Spanish LaLiga. This time he moved to Getafe FC .
