Curt von Maerken zu Geerath , also Kurt von Maercken (born June 25, 1887 in Koblenz , † April 19, 1945 in Hanover ), was a German lawyer and administrative officer .

Life

Carl Curt Freiherr von Maercken zu Geerath came from the Bohemian noble family Both and was a son of Major General Leo Freiherr von Maercken zu Geerath (1849-1923) and Mathilde Ferdinande Henriette, née Edle von Poschinger (1859-1940). In 1914 he married in Berlin Munich-born Martha Anna Maria 'Henriette Elisabeth von Poschinger Noble (1891-1980), a daughter of the factory owner Egon Ritter von Poschinger and his late wife Anna, nee Schmidt. The marriage came from the sons Jürgen von Maercken zu Geerath (1915–1945) and Curt von Maercken zu Geerath (1918–1942) and the daughter Dagmar (* 1919).

Curt von Maercken was January 27, 1912 lieutenant of the reserve of the 1st Guards Dragoons "Queen Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland" and May 6, 1917 lieutenant of the reserve with the character as a captain appointed. After studying law , he completed his legal clerkship in Cologne in 1914 . In 1920 he received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen with a dissertation on administrative law. Initially a senior bank clerk and authorized signatory , he was deputy trustee for work for Bavaria and the Rhine Province until 1936 , then trustee - from January 1, 1937 Reich trustee - for work for the Lower Saxony economic area based in Hanover. On September 21, 1939 he became a member of the Defense Committee for Military District IX, and from April 18, 1941 also special trustee for the work to regulate the working conditions of commercial followers in the peat industry in the German Reich. In 1941 he received the War Merit Cross 2nd Class for his services in the timely completion of the west wall on the north-western border. From January 1, 1943, he headed the Lower Saxony State Labor Office in Hanover. On April 20, 1944 he was appointed SA-Obersturmbannführer of the SA-Group Lower Saxony.
