Cyrille Aimée (actually Cyrille-Aimée Daudel , * 10. August 1984 in Samois-sur-Seine , Fontainebleau ) is a French , in New York City living jazz singer .

Live and act

Cyrille Aimée's mother is from the Dominican Republic and her father is French. Until 2009 she studied at the State University of New York at Purchase with Pete Malinverni , Jon Faddis and Jimmy Greene . In 2007 she won both first prize and audience prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival . In 2008 she recorded her debut album in Switzerland, Cyrille Aimée & the Surreal Band , followed by Smile , which she recorded with the Brazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo . In 2010 she was the winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in Newark (New Jersey) . She recorded the 2011 album Live at Smalls with guest musicians such as Roy Hargrove and Joel Frahm . In 2012 she worked on the album Junction of the Hot Club of Detroit (with Jon Irabagon, among others ).

In 2015 she won the Down Beat Critic Polls in the Rising Star category. The Wall Street Journal called Aimée "one of the most promising jazz singers of her generation."

Cyrille Aimée lives in Brooklyn .
