The Czarny Mniszek are a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 2178 meters in the Kozi Wierch massif . The border between the municipalities of Zakopane in the west and Bukowina Tatrzańska , specifically the district of Brzegi , in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Powiat Tatrzański district runs at the top .

Location and surroundings

Below the summit lie the Dolina Roztoki valleys , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Buczynowa , in the east and Dolina Gąsienicowa , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa , in the west.

The Czarny Mniszek is separated from the summit of the Buczynowa Strażnica by the Przełączka nad Dolinką Buczynową mountain pass and from the northern summit of Zadnia Sieczkowa Turnia by the Zadnia Sieczkowa Przełączka mountain pass .

etymology

The Polish name Czarny Mniszek can be translated as Black Monk . It is located in the Czarne Ściany massif , from which the name comes.

Flora and fauna

Despite its height, the Czarny Mniszek has a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.
