The Black Wall ( Polish: Czarne Ściany ) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 2242 m in the Kozi Wierch massif . The border between the municipalities of Zakopane in the west and Bukowina Tatrzańska , specifically the district of Brzegi , in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Powiat Tatrzański district runs at the top .

Location and surroundings

Below the summit are the Roztokatal valleys , specifically its hanging valley Buchental , in the east and the Seealmtal , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa , in the west. In front of the massif is the Czarny Mniszek peak .

The Czarne Ściany is separated from the summit of the Buczynowa Strażnica by the Schwarzwandscharte ( Przełączka nad Dolinką Buczynową ) mountain pass and the Hinterer Sieczka Tower to the north by the Hintere Sieczka-Scharte mountain pass .

etymology

The Polish name Czarne Ściany can be translated as Black Walls . In the past, the entire Kozi Wierch massif was called Czarne Ściany .

Flora and fauna

Despite its height, the Czarne Ściany has a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.

The Czarne Ściany are popular with hikers and climbers. It is located on the Orla Perć high path .

Routes to the summit

The Orla Perć high-altitude trail leads over the Kozie Czuby from the Zawrat mountain pass to the Krzyżne mountain pass .
