The Gemsenmauer ( Polish Kozi Mur ) is a mountain in the Polish High Tatras with 2266 m in the Gemsenberg massif ( Kozi Wierch ). The border between the municipalities of Zakopane in the west and Bukowina Tatrzańska , specifically the district of Brzegi , in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the Powiat Tatrzański district runs at the top .
Location and surroundings
Below the summit are the five lakes , specifically its hanging valley Dolina Pusta , in the east and Seealmtal ( Dolina Gąsienicowa ), specifically its hanging valley Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa , in the west.
etymology
The Polish name Kozi Mur can be translated as chamois wall .
Flora and fauna
Despite its height, the chamois wall has a colorful flora and fauna. Numerous plant species occur, especially high alpine flowers and grasses. In addition to insects and mollusks and birds of prey, marmots and chamois also visit the summit.

The chamois wall is popular with hikers and climbers. It is located on the Orla Perć high path .
Routes to the summit
The Orla Perć high-altitude trail leads over the Kozi Mur from the Zawrat mountain pass to the Krzyżne mountain pass .
- ▬ A red marked hiking trail leads from Kasprowy Wierch over the summits Beskid and Pośrednia Turnia as well as the mountain passes Liliowe and Świnicka Przełęcz to the Świnica and on to the high trail Orla Perć , whichbeginsat the mountain pass Zawrat . The Schronisko PTTK Murowaniec and Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich mountain huts are suitable starting points for an ascent from the valleys.
