The Kerbkoppe ( Polish Czuba nad Karbem ) is a mountain in the High Tatras with an altitude of 1896 m npm and is located in Poland in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Powiat Tatrzański district and Zakopane municipality .
Location and surroundings
The summit is on the Kapellengrat ( Grań Kościelców ), which branches off west of the north ridge of the Seealmspitze ( Świnica ) into the Seealm Valley ( Dolina Gąsienicowa ).
Below the summit are two valleys, the Dolina Zielona Gąsienicowa in the south and the Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa in the north.
From the summit of the Little Polish Chapel ( Mały Kościelec ) in the east, the Kerbkoppe is separated by the Kerbsattel and lies to the west of the summit of the Polish Chapel ( Kościelec ).
etymology
The Polish name Czuba nad Karbem is derived from the nearby Karb mountain pass and can be translated as a hill above the Karb pass .
tourism
The summit is very popular with hikers because of the panorama from its summit. Hikers can reach the summit of the Kerbkoppe in various ways. They are considered difficult.
Routes to the summit
A hiking trail leads to the summit:
- ▬ A black-marked hiking trail from the Seealmtal valleyover the Kerbsattel ( Karb )mountain passto the summit and the Polish Chapel ( Kościelec ). The Schronisko TTK Murowaniec mountain hut is a suitable starting point for climbing the Small Polish Chapel.
- ▬ Alternatively, a blue hiking trail leads from the Polish Black Lake ( Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy ) or from the Seealmsattel mountain pass( Świnicka Przełęcz ) to the Kerbsattel ( Karb )mountain pass, where you meet the black hiking trail to the summit.
