The Kapellengrat ( Polish Grań Kościelców ) is a mountain range in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship with a maximum height of 2247  m npm in the Lower Seealm Tower ( Zawratowa Turnia ). The massif is located in the municipality of Zakopane .

Location and surroundings

Below the massif lie the Dolina Zielona Gąsienicowa and Dolina Czarna Gąsienicowa valleys . The massif is bordered on the summit Zawratowa Turnia of the massif of Świnica the southeast.

The ridge of the massif runs from the Zawratowa Turnia peak to the Hala Gąsienicowa mountain pasture as follows:

etymology

The Polish name Grań Kościelców can be translated as Kirchberggrat or Ridge of the Kirchberg Mountains . The name comes from the mountain Kościelec , whose name can be translated as Kirchberg .

Flora and fauna

The tree line is at an altitude of 1600 meters. The Kapellengrat is a retreat for chamois and marmots.

tourism

It is accessible to hikers and climbers. A ridge path leads from the Hala Gąsienicowa alpine pasture over the ridge to Kościelec . The Zawratowa Turnia can also be reached via another high-altitude trail from the Zawrat mountain pass .
