Décio Zandonade

Décio Sossai Zandonade SDB (born December 2, 1942 in Venda Nova do Imigrante , Espírito Santo ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Colatina .

Life

In 1952 he entered the Seminário Aspirantado Salesiano of Jaciguá . In 1958 he continued his studies in São João del Rei . In 1960 he entered the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, seven years later on June 16, 1967, he took the perpetual religious vows . After studying philosophy at the Don Bosco Faculty in São João del Rei and theological studies in Córdoba, Argentina , and at the Theological Institute of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte , he was ordained a priest on December 11, 1972 .

Prior to his appointment as bishop, he was director of the Jaciguá seminary and auxiliary in the Salesian novitiate of Barbacena . He was also responsible at the provincial level for the Salesian works in the Distrito Federal do Brasil as well as Minas Gerais , Espírito Santo, Goiás and Rio de Janeiro . From 1991 he was director of the Salesian system of video communication.

On 11 December 1996 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte and titular bishop of Gemellae in Byzacena . He received the episcopal ordination on February 2nd, 1997 by Archbishop Serafim Cardinal Fernandes de Araújo . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Jardim , Onofre Cândido Rosa SDB, and the Bishop of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim , Luiz Mancilha Vilela SSCC . His coat of arms as bishop is Domine, ut videam .

On May 14, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Colatina .

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on May 14, 2014.
