Luiz Mancilha Vilela

Luiz Mancilha Vilela SSCC (born May 6, 1942 in Pouso Alto , Brazil ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vitória .

Life

Luiz Mancilha Vilela joined the order of the Arnstein Fathers and was ordained a priest on December 21, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim on February 3, 1985 . The Archbishop of Belo Horizonte , Serafím Fernandes de Araújo , gave him episcopal ordination on February 22nd of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Luís Gonzaga Peluso , Former Bishop of Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, and Silvestre Luís Scandián SVD , Archbishop of Vitória. As a motto he chose Ut Pastor Pascet .

On February 3, 2002 he was appointed coadjutor archbishop of Vitória. With the resignation of Silvestre Luís Scandián SVD on April 14, 2004, he succeeded him as Archbishop of Vitória.

On November 7, 2018, Pope Francis accepted Luiz Mancilha Vilela's request for resignation for reasons of age.
