history

Quesitz was first mentioned in a document in 961. In 1243 the first knight was enfeoffed with Quesitz. During this time there was a moated castle on the site of the later manor . Quesitz and its present-day districts of Döhlen and Thronitz belonged to the Hochstift-Merseburgischen Amt Lützen until 1815 , which had been under Electoral Saxon sovereignty since 1561 and belonged to the Secondogenitur Principality of Saxony-Merseburg between 1656/57 and 1738 . The office of Lützen was divided by the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna . Döhlen and Thronitz were ceded to Prussia with the western part in 1815. They were the 1816 Merseburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Prussian province of Saxony allocated. In 1950 they were reclassified to the Weißenfels district . Quesitz remained with the eastern part of the office in the Kingdom of Saxony in 1815 and was incorporated into the Leipzig district office. From 1856 the place belonged to the Markranstädt court office and from 1875 to the Leipzig District Administration .

The Saxon-Prussian or Saxon-Saxony-Anhalt border ran through the present-day town of Quesitz until 1952. On July 1, 1950, Döhlen was incorporated into Thronitz. During the district reform in the GDR , Quesitz and Thronitz came with Döhlen in 1952 to the newly formed Leipzig-Land district in the Leipzig district . On June 1, 1973 Thronitz was incorporated with Döhlen to Quesitz. During the district reform of the Free State of Saxony, the community of Quesitz was assigned to the district of Leipziger Land on January 1, 1994 and incorporated into Markranstädt.
