Dorpms is an Oi! / Punk rock band from Dortmund .

history

According to an idea that they had in their favorite pub at the time, HirschQ , three skinheads founded the group in their hometown of Dortmund in 2009 after they had already played in other local bands (including Offbeat Propeller). The name goes back to the ancient, Low German name Dörpm for the city of Dortmund. Since then, they have also expressed their connection to Dortmund and its tradition as a working and beer city in their band logo by referring to the Dortmunder U.

They gave their first concert on December 5th, 2009. Numerous other appearances followed, mostly with scene bands such as Stomper 98 , The Business , Volxsturm , Evil Conduct or Berliner Weisse and others.

In 2010 they released the self-marketing its first four pieces as a CD under the title Pils'n Export Oi! . Here, too, they referred to their city again, for example with the title allusion to Dortmund's export beer . As a result, they received a record deal with Sunny Bastards , a music label from Essen also affiliated with the Ruhr area . In 2011 they then played at the Son of a Bastard Festival and were one of the bands on the Voice of a Generation Tour 2011 .

In 2012 everything can, nothing has to be released, their first full album. There are 13 songs on it. A number of other concerts followed, both in front of smaller and larger audiences, for example with Cock Sparrer in the Cologne vinegar factory . They also performed abroad in 2013, for example with Evil Conduct in the Netherlands .

As part of a series of limited edition 12 " EPs , the nostalgic and ironic at the format of the Maxi Single reminiscent of the 1980s, her label Sunny Bastards brought in 2014 then the EP notes the road with four new songs out that only on this vinyl record appeared. To The group produced their first professional video clip for the title track . When the EP was released, the band had changed their line-up for the first time. The guitar was no longer played by André, but from onion, who had been working in other punk bands for many years, especially in Hammer Band Paranoya .

reception

In German throughout, the band praises their preference for beer, football, tattoos and a fulfilling life away from the majority society , but also thematizes their concerns about an overbearing surveillance state and an increasingly materialistic and inhuman society. They usually maintain a rough and cheerful mood at the same time and do not take themselves too seriously, which sets them apart from many scene bands. This earned them good reviews in the scene. The reviewer of the scene magazine Plastic Bomb judged the album as "a refreshingly simple disc, without any newfangled fisimatents or riddles , which still sweeps me away from the first note".

During a visit to Heino's café in 2010, he let himself be carried away by the group to the statement that the Dbodms are the best band in the world.
