Broager Sogn ( German: Broacker ) is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in North Schleswig in southern Denmark on the north bank of the Flensburg Fjord .

4612 people live in the parish area, 3234 of them in the village of Broager itself (as of January 1, 2020).

Municipal area

The municipality Broager forms a peninsula bounded on the south by the outer fjord, northwest through the bays of Nybøl Nor (dt. Nübeler Noor ) and in the northeast by the Vemmingbund ( Wemmingbund ). Between these there is the only land bridge to the larger peninsula Sundewitt (Danish: Sundeved ) with the neighboring communities Nybøl ( Nübel ) and Dybbøl ( Düppel ). A bascule bridge on trunk road 8 crosses the strait between Förde and Noor near Egernsund ( Ekensund ).

After the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein had become a Prussian province in 1867, the municipality was assigned to the district of Sønderborg as the Broacker Office (consisting of the municipalities Broacker, Dünth, Gammelgab, Iller, Möllmark and Schelde). This was dissolved when the northern part of Schleswig came back to Denmark in 1920; until 1970 Broacker / Broager belonged again to the Nübelharde ( Nybol Herred ) in the then Aabenraa-Sønderborg office , then to the Broager municipality in the then Sønderjyllands office , which became part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 in the "new" Sønderborg municipality in the Syddanmark region has risen.
