DARI (musician)

DARI , real name Darius Zander (born January 26, 1984 in Cologne ) is a German singer and songwriter .

Life

DARI grew up as an only child in an artist family in the Neuehrenfeld district of Cologne in a multi-cultural environment with his mother (painter) and stepfather (jazz musician). In 2004 he finished his school years with the Abitur at the Humboldt-Gymnasium. He then completed a dual course of study as a fitness economist at the German University for Prevention and Health Management in Cologne.

Artistic career

At the age of six, DARI played as a drummer in a punk band. Later, during his studies, he learned the piano and began to occupy himself with singing. In 2011 he founded the Darius Zander Band as a singer, u. a. together with the musicians Torsten Bugiel , Tobi Born and Rene "Ena" Schwiers (today musicians of the band Kasalla ). The band played mainly concerts in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the following two years he worked, still under his real name Darius Zander, with the Cologne rapper Mo-Torres and wrote various songs with him. This was followed by appearances at the season opening and in the Rheinenergiestadion of 1. FC Cologne .

In 2016 he was part of the 6th season of the TV show " The Voice of Germany " and was surprised at his first appearance by singer Max Giesinger , with whom he performed the title " 80 million " as an encore . In December he was a guest in the Christmas edition of the Elton TV show at KiKa and he played his first own club show in the legendary Gloria Theater in Cologne .

In 2017 he played for the first time under his new artist name DARI as the opening act for the band PUR (including in SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach ) and on the cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 as part of the Sound Wave Festival together with PUR, Max Giesinger , Glasperlenspiel and Kerstin Ott .

In 2018 he wrote the World Cup single "Flutlicht" for Adel Tawil together with the producer and songwriter Fabian Zimmermann, the lyricist Sammy Labidi as well as Luca Schneider and the producer Christoph Siemons . In the summer DARI played his first open airs, u. a. in Lippe and at the Andernach Culture Night.

On April 26, 2019 the first single "Ideal" was released under his stage name DARI from the debut album "VLI", which was released on August 2, 2019. On May 24th, 2019, the second single "On your side" appeared.

On June 6, 2019, DARI will play in the opening act of the band PUR as part of their open air tour in the “Am Hünting” stadium in Bocholt in front of 15,000 spectators. On December 14, 2019, DARI won the German Rock & Pop Prize , which bands such as PUR, Juli and Yvonne Catterfeld had already won.

In January 2020 DARI was on tour with the comedian Michael Heeren and the singer Alex Rosenrot under the motto "Comedy meets Music".

On May 1st, 2020 his single "Bollwerk" was released. The music video for the single shows his emotional story. How he struggled, starting with the life-threatening premature birth, through the many ups and downs of life to become a musician.
