The umbrella organization Salzburg cultural sites - organized as a non-profit association - is the network and the cultural-political interest group for the »free« contemporary, emancipatory and autonomous cultural work in the state of Salzburg .

History and organization

The umbrella organization was founded in 1988 in the city of Salzburg by representatives of the autonomous cultural institutions Das Kino , Elisabethbühne , Toihaus , Kleines Theater , ARGE Kulturgelände , Frauenkulturzentrum and Gegenlicht .

The first managing director was Gerald Gröchenig, followed by Birgit Feusthuber and, since 1993, Thomas Randisek. The honorary board consists of six members. Tomas Friedmann was the chairman from 2007 to 2015, and Karl Zechenter has been chairman since November 2015.

For its 78 members - 44 urban initiatives and 34 from rural areas - the umbrella association performs political lobbying work to secure and increase the funding volume, legal advice, legal representation and consulting in subsidy and funding issues, assistance with contacts with authorities, in insurance and AKM - and various administrative matters. He advocates improvements, including a. through public-critical events on the topics of cultural policy and media policy .

Workshops and series of seminars create the necessary accompanying further training for the practice of cultural work. The umbrella organization advocates necessary legal improvements that strengthen the structural protection of cultural initiatives and the social protection of cultural workers (»fair pay for cultural work«).

The association is involved in the implementation of the “ Stolpersteine ” project in the city ​​of Salzburg .

financing

The work of the advocacy group is financed through membership fees and advertising income, as well as funding from the City of Salzburg and the State of Salzburg .

Publications

In cooperation with the regional broadcasters FS1 and Radiofabrik, the umbrella association publishes the TV format KULTmagazin and the radio series Radio Innergebirg .

The KULTPLAN (event calendar for adults), the culture poster with an overview calendar (since 1989) and the "kids-KULTPLAN" (event calendar for children since 2008) are published monthly.
