Dakota is a Dutch adventure film from the year 1974 . The director was Wim Verstappen . The German premiere took place in the WDR on October 29, 1975.

action

The film tells the story of the bush pilot "Dick de Boer". The avid pilot does everything to keep his plane and has to leave because of a smuggling affair. He then flies with his DC 3 without refueling from the Antilles to the Netherlands to Ameland . In the 24-minute long sequence of the transatlantic flight, it is shown how he refueled the aircraft from the inside from fuel barrels he had taken with him. After a short stay in his homeland, he and his Dakota set off for Morocco .

The exterior shots were filmed in Curaçao and at the Ameland airfield. The film was restored in the new millennium.
