The Damn Yankees were an American supergroup .
Band history
The rock band was founded in 1989 by bassist Jack Blades ( Night Ranger ), Tommy Shaw ( Styx ), Ted Nugent and Michael Cartellone, the current drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd . It was named after the musical Damn Yankees .
The self-titled debut album was released on February 22, 1990 and hit the US album charts in February 1991 after the third single , " High Enough ", hit number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January of that year and sold the Album attracted thereby. In 1994 the album reached double platinum status.
After the album was released, the band went on a world tour for a year and a half . Titles from the album were used in the soundtracks of the films Valkenvania - The Wonderful World of Madness and Gremlins 2 - The Return of the Little Monsters .
In 1992 their second album " Don't Tread " was released , which reached gold status, but only sold half as well as its predecessor. The musicians then concentrated mainly on their solo careers or went back to their traditional bands. In 1998 there was studio recordings for a planned third album, but it was never released. Under the title Essentials , a best-of album by the band was released in 2002 .
In January 2010 the musicians came together at the NAMM music fair in Anaheim and, following a performance by Night Ranger, played the Damn Yankees titles “ Coming of Age ” and “High Enough”, as well as Ted Nugent's hit “ Cat Scratch Fever ”.
