Daniel Hemetsberger (born May 23, 1991 in Vöcklabruck , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian ski racer . He specializes in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines.

biography

Daniel Hemetsberger comes from Nussdorf am Attersee and starts for SV Unterach .

At the age of 15 he competed in his first FIS races in Jerzens . In December 2008 he started in the Super-G on the Reiteralm for the first time in a European Cup race. His greatest success for the time being was at the Austrian championships in Innerkrems in 2014 when he won his first title in the Super-G. After a few top 10 results, he achieved his first European Cup podium with third place in the Wengen Super G in January 2017. In February he achieved another top result with the same result in the Sarntal descent . In the following season 2017/18 he was able to improve again and initially finished third in two Nor-Am-Cup races in Lake Louise . In January he won the European Cup home run in Saalbach-Hinterglemm .

On January 20, 2018, he made his World Cup debut on the Hahnenkamm run in Kitzbühel . At the end of the season he won the bronze medal in the Super-G at the Austrian championships and was included in the ÖSV squad for the first time. In December 2018 he qualified with convincing training performances for the World Cup downhill in Bormio , which he finished just outside the points in 32nd place. The next day he had a bad fall in the Super-G and tore a cruciate ligament , inner ligament and meniscus in his left knee. This was the fourth time in his career that he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture.

In March 2020 he won his first World Cup points as 15th on the downhill from Kvitfjell .
