Daniel Henriksson (born September 4, 1978 in Övertorneå ) is a former Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach .

Career

Daniel Henriksson began his career as an ice hockey player at Luleå HF , for whose professional team he made his professional debut in the 1996/97 season. He and his team took part in both the Elitserien and the European Hockey League . In his rookie year , the goalkeeper and his team reached the finals of the Swedish championship, in which he lost to Färjestad BK . During his time at Luleå, he also gained match practice with the second division clubs Bodens IK and Piteå HC - first in Division 1 and then in the newly founded HockeyAllsvenskan .

In the summer of 2004 Henriksson moved to Färjestads BK, with whom he was again runner- up in the 2004/05 season , before he won the Swedish championship for the first time in his career with his new club in the following season . In the 2007/08 season, the national player in other European countries was under contract with HK Sibir Novosibirsk from the Russian Super League and EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Austrian Ice Hockey League . With Salzburg he was Austrian champion at the end of the season . He was then signed by Linköpings HC from his Swedish homeland, with whom he took part in the newly founded Champions Hockey League , in which he stood between the posts in all four defeats when his team left the group stage. Following the 2008/09 season , he ended his career with the LHC.

Henriksson has been a goalkeeping coach at his hometown club Luleå HF since 2010.

For Sweden , Henriksson took part in the 2004 , 2006 and 2007 World Championships .
