Daniel Popat

Daniel Popat (born April 11, 1990 in Munich ) is a German actor .

Life

Popat is of Indian-Afghan origin. His father is from Afghanistan , his mother from India . Popat grew up with Hindi and Sindhi as mother tongues. After graduating from high school in 2010, Popat decided to become an actor in 2011.

Popat has played theater since 2005 . From 2006 he appeared in several productions on various Berlin stages. He appeared several times in the Kulturhaus Spandau. In the 2008/09 season, a member of the Junge Deutsche Theater played the role of eel in the world premiere of the play Alles aus - Liebe im Hotel . In 2010 he was one of the co-founders of the Berlin improvisation theater "Die Improvisionäre".

From June 2011 (episode 1056) to March 2012 (episode 1225) he was seen in the ARD television series Rote Rosen in the role of Rajan Shudrak. He embodied the from New Delhi originating, Indian godson of the couple Lichtenhagen coming to Germany to medicine to study. Popat was one of the main cast on the series.

From 2012 to 2014 Popat studied acting at the Anton Bruckner Conservatory in Linz . In 2015 he finished his studies at the London drama school "East 15 Acting School". From 2017 Popat studied scenic film directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg . His short film Hostel (2017) was awarded the golden Lola at the German Short Film Award in 2018 .

Popat occasionally worked as a radio play speaker and as a voice actor .

Popat lives in Munich .
