Daniel Summerhill (born February 13, 1989 in Englewood , Colorado ) is an American cyclist who competes in cross-country , on- road and on- track races .
Athletic career
In 2005 Daniel Summerhill was the US youth champion in individual time trial and road racing. In the same year he won the national junior title fight in cyclocross. He was able to defend his cyclocross championship title in Providence the next year . At the Cyclocross World Championships 2007 in Hooglede-Gits , Summerhill won the silver medal in the junior class. In 2009 and 2010 he won the national title in the U23 class. In the 2016/17 season he won the bronze medal in cyclo-cross at the Pan American Championships.
In 2013, Summerhill got a contract with the UnitedHealthcare team and from then on increasingly also drove road races. In 2017 he won a stage of the Tour de Taiwan and prologue of the Tour of Japan .
Shortly thereafter, Summerhill had to appear in court in the United States for firing at least three shots during a training drive in February in a residential area in Jefferson County , Colorado . The reason he gave was that he had to “let off steam”. He was then released from his team. In July 2018, he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
At the end of July 2018, David Summerhill, along with Adrian Hegyvary , Logan Owen and Eric Young, won the US team pursuit on the track. A few weeks later, the American foursome (Summerhill, Hegyvary, Daniel Holloway and Gavin Hoover ) won the silver medal in the team pursuit at the Pan American Championships in the National Cycling Center in Trinidad and Tobago . In 2018 Summerhill started at the World Railroad Championships in Apeldoorn .
