Daniel Tkaczuk (born June 10, 1979 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League .
Career
Tkaczuk began his career in 1995 in the Canadian Junior League OHL with the Barrie Colts . In his first year, the then 17-year-old scored 61 points in 61 games. In his second season, the links Sagittarius increased again and thus attracted the attention of some NHL - Scouts in coming. During the NHL Entry Draft 1997 it was finally the Calgary Flames who could decide for Tkaczuk. They picked the Canadian in sixth place overall in the first round.
For the 1999/2000 season , the 1.85 m center moved to the American Hockey League for the Saint John Flames . After completing an excellent season there, the attacker was in the Calgary Flames squad for the first time in 2000. Nevertheless, he was still mainly used in the AHL. In the end, the left shooter was used 19 times in the NHL and achieved eleven points and a plus / minus statistic of +1.
In the summer of 2003 Tkaczuk decided to move to Europe, where he signed a one-year contract with Rauman Lukko in the Finnish SM-liiga . Since the contract was not renewed at the end of the season, the striker was drawn to the Italian Seria A for the HC Milano Vipers in the 2004/05 season , with whom he was able to become Italian champions one season later .
Due to the performances shown in Italy, the Canadian was signed by ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League for the 2006/07 season . In 2007 Daniel Tkaczuk switched to league competitor EV Duisburg , for whom he was in service for two years. The Canadian then returned to North America and joined the Charlotte Checkers from the ECHL . In the 2009/10 season, the left shooter was also in action for various AHL teams, before Tkaczuk accepted an offer from the Austrian second division club EC Dornbirn in September 2010 . The Canadian finally ended the 2010/11 season in the jersey of the Nottingham Panthers , with whom he won the Challenge Cup and the Playoff Championship of the Elite Ice Hockey League .
International
1999 Tkaczuk was for the first time in the squad of the Canadian junior national team , with which he took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in Canada in the same year and won the silver medal. Tkaczuk, who scored six goals and four assists in seven games, was called up to the tournament's All-Star team.
