Daniela de Oliveira Piedade (born March 2, 1979 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian handball player who was part of the squad of the Brazilian national team.

Career

In the club

Daniela Piedade started playing handball at a Brazilian school in 1993. In 2002 the circle player joined the Austrian association Hypo Niederösterreich . At Hypo, Piedade only played in the second team in the first six months and only then became part of the first team. The future captain of Hypo won both the Austrian championship and the ÖHB-Cup every season .

From summer 2012 the Brazilian was under contract with the Slovenian club RK Krim . In September of that year, she suffered a stroke shortly before a training game . After a break of several months, she finally celebrated her comeback in January 2013. With Krim, Piedade won the national double in 2013 and 2014. From the 2014/15 season she ran for the Hungarian first division side Siófok KC . In summer 2016 she moved to league competitor Fehérvár KC . In 2017 she moved to the Spanish club HC Puig d'en Valls . A year later she ended her career.

In the national team

Daniela Piedade participated with the Brazilian selection at the 14th Pan-American Games in Santo Domingo , the 15th Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro , the 16th Pan-American Games in Guadalajara and the 17th Pan-American Games in Toronto , where they respectively won the gold medal. The Brazilian also took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Daniela Piedade was a member of the Brazilian World Cup squad six times . At the 2013 World Cup in Serbia , Dani celebrated winning the World Cup. At the Pan American Championship , she recorded five tournament victories - most recently in 2015 .
