Daniela Schulz (* 1968 in Mannheim ) is a German author, film director and film producer .

biography

The only daughter of Hildegard Maurer and Volker Schulz wrote poetry and took photos as a teenager . In the early 1980s she appeared in various nationally known music bands, for which she wrote the lyrics and acted as lead singer (Pas de Trois, Dream Sequence). The first video tapes with a tutorial function were made in the early 1990s . Schulz studied business administration and ethnology at the University of Trier from 1987 to 1988 and completed a guest study at the Academia Oposit Center in Santander , Spain , before studying cultural pedagogy ( diploma ) at the University of Hildesheim from 1988 to 1994 .

From her beginnings in the theater and performance sector ( Schnawwl-Theater Mannheim ; La Fura dels Baus ) Schulz began to be increasingly interested in electronic narrative forms, video art and TV formats. She got into film production with the introduction of the Avid editing system . As a producer, she worked with the directors Alfa Conradt, Gerd Conradt, Günter Jeschonnek, Fred Kelemen and Gyula Maár and with the cameramen Roberto Chile , Frank Gutsche and Hans Rombach. In 2000 she started her own business with “ds-films”; In 2004 she founded Kino-Kombat Filmmanufactur with Fred Kelemen, Jana Marsik and Erika Richter, and in 2010 kinoglas Filmproduktion together with Gerd Conradt . From 2002–2004 she lectured in the field of journalism and media management at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences , and in 2003 she was associated with the Graduate College Image-Body-Medium at the HfG Karlsruhe . From 2005 to 2007 she was a participant in the IPP Performance and Media Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . She completed her doctoral studies with Kati Röttger ( theater studies ) at ASCA, University of Amsterdam via La Fura dels Baus, where she also obtained her doctorate in 2013 .

From the mid-1990s Schulz worked in changing positions for the performance and theater group La Fura dels Baus , including as project manager on the 7-month European tour to introduce the Mercedes A-Class (Simbiosis) and took part in the filming of Goya en Burdeos by Carlos Saura . From 2001 to 2006 she was Executive Producer of the Arte magazine Lola . Since working on the film Dyngyldai (premiered at the 27th International Forum of New Films in Berlin ) in 1997, her main focus has been the development of cinema documentaries; later feature films ( auteur films ) were added. Schulz also works as a television journalist .
