Dannenbüttel

Dannenbüttel is a district of the municipality Sassenburg in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony .

geography

Dannenbüttel is on federal highway 188 , 7 km east of Gifhorn in the direction of Wolfsburg . The Aller flows south of the street . The village of Dannenbüttel was created as a Rundling .

history

Dannenbüttel was created on the dry geestrand of the Aller river valley . This was an area where human settlements arose early on. People lived in the area around today's village as early as the Stone Age , as is indicated by finds of Stone Age tools.

Dannenbüttel belongs to the -Büttel -Dörfer group. Around 500 the Wends as a Slavic people tribe settled in the area.

The field names Kohlaischen, Croje, Brotje and Lortje indicate the Wendish settlement. According to uncertain sources, the Sassenburg is said to have been built on the course of the Aller Burgen near Dannenbüttel in order to stop the advance of Slavic tribes to the west. In the year 888 the place was first mentioned as Dannengebudli in the writings of the Corvey monastery in connection with the Sassenburg. At that time there were already 20 farms. The monastery of Fulda owned the manor .

On March 1, 1974, Dannenbüttel was incorporated into the new municipality of Sassenburg.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Dannenbüttel
Blazon : “Under a blue shield head a golden four-pinned tower with three window openings, a silver and a gold field divided diagonally by a blue wavy ribbon. There is a green ear of wheat in the silver field. A chestnut leaf in the golden field. "
Justification of the coat of arms: The ear of wheat symbolizes the use of the area as an agricultural area and the leaves represent the chestnut trees that are widespread here. The tower stands for belonging to the Sassenburg district of the Gifhorn district and for the nearby former castle complex. The wavy blue line indicates the Aller, in whose bank area the village is located.

The coat of arms was designed by Ernst Krenzke, Herbert Helms and Walter Schulz on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the village and was confirmed as the local coat of arms on February 7, 1988 at a meeting of residents.

Culture and sights

War memorial

West of Dannenbüttel, on a flat sand dune near the Aller, are the remains of the wall of the Sassenburg , after which the Sassenburg community is named.

music

For decades, the men's choir , which appears on many occasions with vocal performances, has had a high priority in the community. The association was founded on November 4, 1880, the initiator at that time was a teacher for the field , who was also responsible for the musical direction. The first song festival took place in June 1887 in a tent on the Masch . For the ten-year existence of the association, the flag, which is still available today, was purchased in 1890. The reverse of the flag bears the inscription: "If we are tired from work, there is still strength for a song".

Green spaces and recreation

The Dannenbütteler peat parts rose on October 1, 2014 in the nature reserve " Allertal between Gifhorn and Wolfsburg ". This area is a dune valley surrounded by wooded dunes in which a small bog has formed.

Sports

  • The first attempts to play football began during the First World War in 1917/18. The pitch under the oaks , today's Masch , was used as the playing field , where the young men first made contact with British prisoners of war. A ball made of rags served as the ball. The first sports club was founded in the early 1920s. The first soccer team wore white jerseys and black pants. White and black were the club colors back then. The first Dannenbüttel sports field was built on Beusmann's Acker in the Mauersbusch. At the beginning of the 1930s a new sports field was built on Bevermühler Straße, again on Beusmannschem ground. At that time, the sports club had two football teams. The re-establishment of the sports club, which has been called "SV Dannenbüttel eV" since then, took place in 1946. Today's club colors are black and yellow.
  • A rifle guild has existed in Dannenbüttel for around 200 years. Thanks to numerous donations, we were able to purchase our own flag, which was presented to the shooters at the first shooting festival in 1897. The establishment of a shooting club is not officially documented until April 1937.

Public facilities

The Dannenbüttel volunteer fire brigade was founded at a community meeting on August 20, 1911. A fire-fighting service and a community fire-fighting team (compulsory fire brigade) had already existed. The major fire of August 8, 1872, in which eleven farms burned down completely, gave the impetus to decisively improve the fire extinguishing system and thus to support public safety.

In 2002, the youth fire brigade of the volunteer fire brigade won the national competition to participate in the international youth fire brigade competitions of the CTIF . The youth fire brigade has already taken part in this "Fire Brigade Olympics" three times.

The village community center was converted into a kindergarten .
