The nature reserve lies between Wolfsburg and Gifhorn. In some places, there is also sandy grass here. Smaller areas on the higher areas are also used as fields . The area of the former nature reserve "Dannenbütteler Torfteile" is characterized by a small, muddy dune valley. Swinging lawns with Schnabelried and various peat moss communities settle in former peat cuttings that have filled with water and slowly silt up .
