The Viehmoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Leiferde in the joint municipality of Meinersen and Ribbesbüttel in the joint municipality of Isenbüttel in the Gifhorn district .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG BR 018 is 302  hectares in size. It is located southwest of Gifhorn and east of Leiferde in a 2.4 kilometer long and 1.2 kilometer wide lowland area. The lowland area dates back to the last Ice Age, when fine soil material was blown out of a shallow basin and deposited on the edges as dunes . In this area, the groundwater near Geest a has fen formed. To the north and east, the area is bounded by a range of dunes up to 3 meters high. Mixed forest predominantly grows here . In addition, heather with individual pines can be found on the undulating dunes .

The western part is characterized by former fish ponds with silting zones and reed beds . The pond area with seven ponds extends over an area of around 36 hectares. The south is characterized by large, partly moist to wet grassland areas . In addition, there are former peat- cutting pools with peat moss - swinging lawn societies and beak sedge farmers. Wet locations partially increased Erlenbruchwald .

The nature reserve is an important resting and breeding area for various species of birds and serves as a retreat for plant and animal species bound to dunes, fens and wetlands .

In the southwest, the nature reserve borders on an oil production area. The Naturschutzbund Deutschland operates the NABU species protection center Leiferde on the edge of Leiferde near the nature reserve. Guided tours of the nature reserve are offered from here.

The area has been a nature reserve since August 2, 1979. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Gifhorn.
