description

The nature reserve is located southwest of Ehra and northwest of Barwedel. It places a degenerate moorland area in a valley low in a ground moraine under protection. The moor area is predominantly characterized by grassland , in which moor forest and wet bushes are interspersed. The grasslands on moist to wet locations are partly used extensively, partly they lie fallow . In addition, there are swamps and a transitional bog with cotton grass deposits and small areas of bristle grass lawns . Bloodroot , bulky bulrush , blue pipe grass as well as broom and bell heather settle on the latter . Also Genista anglica , Forest lousewort and marsh gentian can still be found here. The lung gentian serves as food for the caterpillars of the little moor blue . The wet meadows in the nature reserve are habitat and a. of lapwing , snipe and whinchat . Trenches house the frog weed .

Birch-pine forests and alder forests can be found in the edge areas of the protected area. Quarry forest-like forms of the bog forests and growing bog stages are only found sporadically. The Bullergraben, which drains the area to the Kleine Aller, runs through the nature reserve .

The nature reserve is mainly surrounded by other grasslands and forests. In some cases, arable land also borders the nature reserve. In the southeast, the nature reserve borders on federal highway 248 .

Planning the Autobahn 39

The state of Lower Saxony is planning to continue building the federal motorway 39 between Lüneburg and Wolfsburg . In planning section 7 between Ehra and Wolfsburg, the planned route of the motorway runs west of the nature reserve and in the north-west of the nature reserve only a few hundred meters away.
