Daniel "Danny" Nicholas Cohen (born January 15, 1974 in Westminster , London ) is a British media manager . 2016 he took over the management of Access Entertainment , a subsidiary of Access Industries after 2013 to 2015 as director of the television sector the BBC had passed.

Career

Cohen graduated from Lady Margaret Hall of Oxford University in English Literature . From 2004 he worked for Channel 4 , where he was responsible for documentaries and rose to head of the youth channel E4 . Programs such as Skins - Hautnah , Supernanny ( adapted in Germany as Die Super Nanny by RTL ) and The Inbetweeners were initiated during his responsibility .

in May 2007, Cohen moved to BBC Three , where he made programs such as Being Human , Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts and Lip Service , and in 2010 to BBC One , where Call the Midwife , Happy Valley , Poldark and The Casual were among others Vacancy and he was in charge of the broadcaster's coverage of the London 2012 Summer Olympics . Under Cohen's influence, the station recorded record audience numbers and growth.

In May 2013 Cohen handed over the reins of BBC One to Charlotte Moore and moved up to become the director of BBC Television, where he replaced interim director Roger Mosey . In his new role he was responsible for the production companies in addition to the individual television channels. In November 2015 he left the BBC in order to be able to devote himself to new tasks.

In May 2016, Leonard Blavatnik brought Cohen to Access Industries, where he took over the management of the newly established group unit to bundle the entertainment activities Access Entertainment with an investment budget of "several hundred million US dollars ".

Private life

Cohen has been married to the British economist and non-fiction author Noreena Hertz since 2012 , both of whom were married in the historic Bevis Marks Synagogue in London's East End .
