Darmon Meader

Darmon August Meader (born August 26, 1961 ) is an American jazz musician ( vocals , saxophone , arrangement ).

After studying at Ithaca College in 1987, Meader founded the vocal ensemble New York Voices with Peter Eldridge , Kim Nazarian, Caprice Fox and Sara Krieger , which had its first appearances in 1988; In 1989 the debut album was released on GRP Records . This was followed by numerous other albums by the quintet with GRP and later with RCA Victor , Concord and MCGJazz. In 2008 he was with Jay Ashby and Kim Nazarian for a Grammy in the category Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist (s) for the arrangement of In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning (on the album A Day Like This the New York Voices nominated). In the same year his debut album And So I Am was released . In the field of jazz he was involved in 60 recording sessions as a musician and arranger between 1989 and 2012. a. with Tommy Igoe , Janet Marlow, John Pizzarelli , the Count Basie Orchestra ( Ghost Band ), The Birdland Big Band, Don Sebesky , Paquito D'Rivera , Nancy Wilson , Andreas Öberg and Bobby McFerrin , also with Cissy Houston .

He teaches jazz singing at Indiana University .
