Andreas Öberg (born August 6, 1978 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish jazz guitarist and composer.

Live and act

Öberg began playing the guitar at the age of eight; he first learned classical guitar, switched to jazz / blues and fusion as a teenager . At the age of 18 he began to study at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm . At first he accompanied Viktoria Tolstoy and Svante Thuresson . In the course of his career he played a. a. with Les Paul , Barbara Hendricks , Jimmy Rosenberg , Putte Wickman , Joe Beck , Bruce Forman , Frank Vignola , Bucky Pizzarelli , Ulf Wakenius , Joey DeFrancesco , Mark Murphy , Stochelo Rosenberg , Angelo Debarre , Marian Petrescu , Dorado Schmitt , Ken Peplowski , Jermaine Landsberger and Florin Niculescu . Öberg, who stylistically moves between mainstream jazz , modern jazz and gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt , has released several albums under his own name.

As a songwriter, Öberg worked with Melanie Fontana and Ludwig Goransson . He also wrote and produced pop music for the Swedish, American and Japanese markets.

Prizes and awards

Öberg received the Fasching Jazz Award 2002 in 2002 ; in the same year he won the national jazz competition in Sweden. In 2003 he was awarded the Hagström Guitar Award and the Armstrong Award , in 2004 the Gevalia Award and the Scandinavian Patron of Le Quecumbar . At the Jazz Festival Montreux in 2006 he was the winner of the audience award in the final of the Gibson International Guitar Competition .
