The boat is full is a feature film by Markus Imhoof based on the book of the same name by the Swiss writer Alfred A. Häsler .

action

Six people managed to escape to neutral Switzerland during the Second World War in 1942 , but in August the latter decided to tighten their admission conditions. The six try, with a little complicity from some villagers, to meet the conditions by swapping clothes, roles and papers. But the village policeman sees through the pretense, feels betrayed and orders the official procedure. Those persecuted for racist motives have to leave, those who are politically persecuted are allowed to stay.

Reviews

“Imhoof, who made this film out of a personal dismay, yes, anger, because Switzerland preferred to suppress the inhumanity shown in World War II rather than openly admit it, is not unjust to his compatriots. The bureaucratism may be presented a little exaggerated, the clergy one-sidedly anxious and unwilling to interfere, but those who actively help are sympathetic, understanding and a little helpless. "The boat is full" is not a big, but an honest film. "
