action

The Cutler family live as pavees in caravans in a field in Gloucestershire . The three generations make up a notorious family of professional criminals who spend their time planning their next coup. Colby is the family's patriarch, but Chad, the eldest son, has a desire to lead a quiet life with his wife, Kelly and children, away from crime and their fickle father. Chad wants to settle down and have his kids graduate from school. He has already chosen a plot of land from a group of former parias where he can park his caravan permanently. The only condition is that he clear everything up with his father before taking the place.

Colby plans to loot the Lord Lieutenant's precious private art collection next . Chad takes over the running of the company. When they flee after the break-in, the police suddenly come to the crime scene. The gang has to deliver a car chase with the police. Chad draws the pursuers and his cronies escape unmolested. When he has to continue on foot, he hides between a herd of cows and is able to escape.

Since it was a robbery of the highest-ranking personality in the region, who is also under the control of the police, they go on hunting Chad and wait for him to make a mistake. The police raided the pariah's premises and searched all trailers. Chad now wants to go to the property, but he can't because his father has spoken to the owner. Chad is now desperate and wants to buy his son a dog for his birthday. When the dog's seller refuses to give him this, Chad breaks into the house and takes the dog away. The police called for help take the opportunity to pursue Chad and stop him at an old oak tree. Chad climbed it with the dog and is waiting there for his family, whom he has informed by phone.

Chad's son has the opportunity to climb the tree with his father, who gives him the dog for his birthday. At the handover, he implores his son to be proud of his family and origins. He will later carry on the family tradition.

reception

Age rating

In Germany the film is FSK 16 . The statement of reasons for the release states: “The film takes place in a rough adult world and shows a police force who can never prove anything to the lawbreakers. Occasionally there are scenes of physical violence, but they are not played out excessively. The crime of the main characters is viewed increasingly critically and the negative effects are shown (e.g. social exclusion, psychological stress). Young people from the age of 16 can understand these critical approaches and question the events appropriately. "

Reviews

David Ehrlich of IndieWire says that while the film adopts the same generational conflicts that recent independent films have in their hearts, the actors refused to reduce their characters to any recognizable archetypes .
