action

Buster Keaton causes a lot of nonsense as a bank clerk, as he accidentally smears the banknotes and customers with glue. The bank president had previously noticed that counterfeit money was being brought into the bank. The bank teller, who is doing common cause with the gang of forgers, then instructs his people to rob the bank. Confused by the sticky bills, two of the robbers put their pistols aside to better deal with the money. Buster takes it and a shot goes off. The robbers flee, but to the incoming bank president it looks like Buster is about to raid the bank. On the run from the police, Buster arrives at the house that the gang of forgers use as a workshop and hiding place. A theater group also seeks protection from an angry audience on the property. In order to be undisturbed in their hiding place, the gang of forgers had prepared the house (for example there is a staircase that can be turned into a slide) and sometimes disguised themselves as ghosts, which led people to believe that it was haunted there . Buster, the gang of counterfeiters, the theater group and the policemen scare each other back and forth. Later the bank president's daughter, who had secretly followed the bank teller to the hiding place, also ends up in the hands of the forgers. Buster finally sees through the game of forgers, helps the police arrest the crooks and saves the daughter of the bank president. Out of anger he is knocked down by the bank teller, whereupon he passes out for a moment. He dreams that he is climbing the stairs to heaven, but when he arrives at the top it will be transformed into a slide on which he descends into hell. The devil then changes the daily report from "Keaton - Out" to "Keaton - In".
